The CDM Orlando office has an immediate need for a water resources engineer with strong groundwater modeling skills. The ideal person will participate in a variety of water modeling projects using MODFLOW and MT3D.
Responsibilities include: -Planning and conducting work requiring judgment in the independent evaluation, selection, and substantial adaptation and modification of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria. -Planning, scheduling, conducting, or coordinating detailed phases of work in a part of a major project or in a total project of moderate scope. Devising new approaches to problems encountered. -Coordinating various technical aspects of work. -Receiving technical guidance on unusual or complex problems and supervisory approval on proposed plans for projects. -Acting as a mentor for lower level employees. -Possibly supervising the work of a few engineers who are assisting on assigned work. -Participating to a limited degree in new business development. -Establishing and monitoring budgets to assess profitability. -Interpret hydrogeologic and hydrologic data in developing conceptual and numerical groundwater flow model. -Develop, calibrate, and use public domain groundwater flow models such as MODFLOW using existing platforms such as GWVistas, Visual MODFLOW and/or GMS. -Modify and use existing groundwater flow models developed by state agencies and other organizations (EPA, USGS, etc.). -Use these models to obtain various permits for water supply permitting, construction dewatering permitting, permitting of reclaimed water land application projects and evaluation of other large water management projects. -Write reports that document background hydrogeology, development, calibration, validation and simulation of alternatives using groundwater flow models.
