Public Works is a department in the County’s Resource Management Agency (RMA). The RMA was created in October 2005 to incorporate key land use and infrastructure departments into a single functional agency. The Department is organized into seven Divisions: Architectural and Facilities, Traffic Engineering, Transportation and Development, Design Engineering, Construction Engineering, Roads & Bridge Maintenance, and Fleet Management. The Resource Management has approximately 300 employees.

Job Description
Organization: County of Monterey

Department: Public Works

Location: Salinas, CA 93901 Type: Full Time

This level requires a State of California Registration as a Professional Civil Engineer

Under direction, to plans, organizes and supervises the work of public works engineers and technical support staff; to function as a departmental expert in assigned areas, managing the larger scale, more complex projects; and to perform related work as required. This level requires a State of California Registration as a Professional Civil Engineer

There are currently two vacancies for Civil Engineer.

• One position will assist in the administration of the State-Mandated Storm Water Management Program (including compliance with National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) requirements/inspection/sampling/sweeping). This position requires knowledge of NPDES regulations and permitting process.

• One position will provide support to the County Service Area and County Service Districts for managing water and wastewater systems. This position requires knowledge of water and waste water system analysis and design including experience with hydraulic modeling and knowledge of water and wastewater rate studies.
