Job Description
Founded over 50 years ago, Jacobs Associates is a consulting engineering firm specializing in design and construction management services for underground projects, particularly tunnels. We also provide detailed structural design and monitoring of complex ground support systems.

Jacobs Associates has an immediate full time Senior Geotechnical Engineer position available in Washington DC. The primary responsibility of the successful candidate will be to assist in planning and completing a geotechnical investigation program for a large CSO tunnel program. As a member of the geotechnical engineering team, you would be responsible for the following: •Overseeing the implementation of a large scale geotechnical investigation program. The candidate should have experience with managing investigation programs associated with tunnels and shafts. •Supervision of field investigation and laboratory testing program. Candidate will manage day-to-day field investigation and report to geotechnical task manager. •Supervising junior geotechnical engineers on geotechnical related work. •Performing analyses and design for foundations, retaining walls, tunnels, shafts and underground structures. •Assist in assigning soil properties for the CSO tunnel program. •Assisting geotechnical task manager in preparation of Geotechnical Reports, including data reports, interpretive reports and baseline reports. •Providing technical reviews for geotechnical analyses, designs and reports prepared by others. •Preparing project specifications and geotechnical related drawings.

Requirements
Requirements •BS or advanced degree in Civil or Mining Engineering with Geotechnical emphasis. •10+ years of relevant experience. •Must have a strong background in soil mechanics and extensive knowledge of drilling and laboratory testing methods. •Familiar with Costal Plain geology. •Professional Engineer Registration with the ability to obtain registration in Washington DC within 6 months. •Tunnel and shaft construction methods preferred. •Strong verbal and written communication skills
