The Department of Civil Engineering at the University of Mississippi invites nominations and applications for the position of Department Chair. Applicants must hold a Ph.D. degree in Civil Engineering or a closely related field and be eligible for appointment with tenure. The successful candidate will have demonstrated excellence in research and scholarly activities, teaching, technical leadership, management, and strong interpersonal skills that embrace diversity. He/she must have national and international recognition based on successfully securing external research funding, earned awards, publication in refereed journals, and active participation in professional societies. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the department in the ABET assessment and accreditation; work closely with departmental faculty, staff, the Dean, and university administrators to develop shared vision of future directions with multi-disciplinary emphasis; promote sponsored research; and cultivate corporate, government and private support.
