San Joaquin County Public Works Department is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Engineer with excellent communication and leadership skills to join its management team. The Engineer V will function as a Division Manager who is responsible for planning, coordinating, directing and supervising the work of a Public Works engineering division. The incumbent will also support department management in areas of personnel, budgeting, planning, and policy/procedure development. The ideal candidate will possess knowledge and experience in the workings of local government; have a background in traffic/transportation engineering and the ability to apply these principals. Strong leadership, interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal) are a must as the position requires interaction/communication with the public and various local and state agencies. The candidate must be able to work in a dynamic setting to effectively support the Department’s needs. Familiarities with transportation funding, project development, and/or traffic safety are a plus. Requirements |

The position requirements include: two years of experience as either a Registered Civil Engineer or Traffic Engineer in an organization performing diversified public works activities, a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or closely related field from a college or university accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology, a valid certificate of registration as a Civil Engineer or Traffic Engineer as issued by the California Board of Registration for Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors, and a valid CA Driver’s License.
