Job Description
Position: Construction Control Representative, GS-0809-11 Duties: Serve as a Construction Representative responsible for an assigned function of surveillance of contract construction operations. Responsible for surveillance and monitoring of major civil construction projects and military projects, to include channel rectification and flood control projects, major dredging projects and/or major modifications. Review contractor's proposed working schedules for logic, adequacy, and to determine construction schedules. Observe and investigate construction at all stages to identify problems, take timely action to correct discrepancies, and to insure full compliance with contract plans and specifications and safety regulations. Compile at-the-site data and makes recommendations for contract modifications to solve problems requiring design changes, changes in materials or construction methods and extensions of time. Review payment estimate submittals, progress measurement data, and reports of materials and equipment used, during field inspection and survey.

About the Position: You will work under the supervision of the Area Engineer for the Bay Area Office, Construction Branch. The duty station is the Jadwin Building. There is free parking within the gated property. The building, where the office is located, has a cafeteria on-site with restaurants and other eateries located within driving distance. The building has a fitness center available to employees free of charge.

To qualify, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-10 level. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: 1) Experience in surveillance and monitoring of major civil construction projects, 2) Review plans and specifications for proposed projects, 3) Observe and investigate construction at all stages to identify problems, 4) Compile at-the-site data and make recommendations for contract modifications, 5) Monitor contractor's quality control program and ensure compliance with current safety regulations.

The experience described in your resume will be evaluated and screened for the Office of Personnel Management's basic qualifications requirements, and the skills needed to perform the duties of this position as described in this vacancy announcement. Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must meet the Time in Grade Restriction. One year of experience in the same or similar work equivalent to at least the next lower grade or level requiring application of the knowledge, skills, and abilities of the position being filled. Must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade (or equivalent).
