The Senior Bridge Engineer is responsible for assisting in the successful operations of the Chicago, Illinois office. The position requires a high level of ethical and professional conduct in technical and managerial activities. This position reports to the Regional Manager of the Chicago, Illinois office.

TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Responsible for assisting in the identifying and cultivating of new business and clients in Illinois.
• Assists in preparing an annual comprehensive marketing plan addressing both short term and long term marketing goals.
• Assists in ensuring that external client focus is top priority of the region, and that systems, processes, and activities that focus on the client at all levels of the region are implemented.
• Be active in Technical societies such as; ACEC.
• Be available to attend meetings or events outside of normal working hours.
• Assists in ensuring that staff needing specialized training in health and safety procedures and practices receive such training and that safety is stressed as an important aspect of their work.
• Supervises bridge inspection, evaluation, and design or repair of new bridges.
• Supervises above and underwater inspection of bridges and waterfront structures.
• Responsible for assisting proposal preparation, estimating project costs, contract negotiation, project quality, and project profitability.
• Prepare and monitor project budgets.
• Responsible for project schedules and timely completion of projects.
• Serves as a senior project manager or senior project engineer on complex projects and as a designated client contact.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Bachelor's degree and/or master’s degree in engineering from an accredited four-year college or university and a minimum of 10 years experience or the equivalent thereof.

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write technical reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, and the general public.

REASONING ABILITY: Ability to define problems, collect data, evaluate facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
