Position: Senior Engineer or Principal Engineer
Location: Libertyville, Illinois
Salary: $64,700 - $93,048
Responsible for the proper location, design, construction, maintenance and operation of traffic signals, traffic signal systems, and managing the PASSAGE network integrator’s plans and schematics. Becoming a Civil Engineer at Lake County Division of Transportation will allow you to be involved with engineers within local government, ranging from consulting and municipalities to the State of Illinois. Your day will consist of optimization of signal timings and coordination plans; reviewing and preparing traffic signal studies; reviewing Intersection Design Studies (IDS) and intersection improvement plans; and reviewing and performing intersection and system traffic signal capacity analysis. You will have endless opportunities to impact and make a difference within Lake County. Being able to build working relationships with employees, 30 countywide departments and the public, is sure to keep you interested and continuously learning.
To be successful in this role, individuals must have a working knowledge of modern principles and practices of civil engineering; strong oral and written communication skills; possess the ability to effectively problem solve and can work both individually and in a team atmosphere; knowledge of crash data record systems and high frequency crash locations preferred.
