NCM Engineering Corporation is currently seeking a CADD designer for the San Diego office who will be responsible for designing portions of projects and creating engineering drawings. This position reports to a registered senior civil engineer.
As a CADD designer, you will be responsible for supporting one or more teams with the design of local roadway and freeway improvement projects, creating engineering drawings and using sound judgment to modify or improve the designs of others. You may be expected to oversee the work of junior-level staff as they complete drafting- and design-related tasks.
You will work closely with one or more project engineers, senior engineers or managers as a critical part of the design process. In this role, you will be expected to do the following:
Design components of local roadway or state highway improvement projects under the supervision of an engineer
Produce roadway cross-sections, plans, profiles, construction details and grading plans using both AutoCAD Civil 3D and Bentley InRoads design software
Be proficient in the use of local agencies' and Caltrans' standard references, plans, specifications and guidelines to complete design tasks
Implement CADD best practices and industry standard practices in your work or review and correct others' work for conformance to them
Participate in the quality control process by reviewing the drafting or design work of others
Help the team meet deadlines while delivering multiple projects concurrently
Perform other design-related tasks as the need arises
You may support projects outside the San Diego region, but travel is not anticipated for this position.
Over 10 years of experience in a technical role with similar responsibilities
Demonstrated proficiency in MicroStation, InRoads (Bentley), AutoCAD Civil 3D and CADD standards
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
Familiarity with local agencies' and Caltrans' standard drawings and specifications
Familiarity with industry-standard references including the Highway Design Manual, Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices and others
Strong attention to detail and dedication to quality control/quality assurance procedures and best practices
Ability to handle a workload of multiple concurrent projects, prioritize effectively and meet tight deadlines
Excitement to work in a small but growing office setting and eagerness to be an early contributor to this growth
Strong work ethic and interest in joining a team of engineers who are passionate about their work
Willingness and ability to work overtime with the team on occasion to meet tight deadlines and deliver excellent work
