The Faculty of Engineering, at the University of Victoria, invites applications for three (3) tenure-track or tenured faculty positions to support the development of a new Civil Engineering program:

In accordance with the University of Victoria's Equity Plan, and pursuant to Section 42 of the BC human rights code, UVic Department of Civil Engineering is seeking to hire a faculty member with a preference for outstanding women candidates. The Department is seeking to develop an environment that nurtures high quality learning for all students and we value the role that gender diversity, amongst other factors, contributes to this goal. The appointment will be at the Assistant, Associate or Full Professor level, with rank depending on accomplishments and experience.
Scholarly expertise in one of the following areas is required: life-cycle assessment; industrial ecology; infrastructure management; or solid waste management. The successful applicant will be expected to teach at the undergraduate and graduate levels, supervise graduate students, establish an active research program, and participate in the academic affairs of the university. Ability to teach undergraduate engineering courses in environmental policy; and environmental pollution is required.
Scholarly expertise in the area of surface water hydrology or hydraulics is required, with research related to climate change being an asset. The successful applicant will be expected to teach at the undergraduate and graduate levels, supervise graduate students, establish an active research program, and participate in the academic affairs of the university. Ability to teach undergraduate courses in hydrology & hydraulics and fluid mechanics is required.
Scholarly expertise in one of the following areas is desirable: computational methods in structural design; structural dynamics; earthquake engineering; sustainable structural design. The successful applicant will be expected to teach at the undergraduate and graduate levels, supervise graduate students, establish an active research program, and participate in the academic affairs of the university. Ability to teach undergraduate engineering courses broadly across all areas of structural engineering/design is required.
Candidates for the position must have a Ph.D in Civil and/or Environmental Engineering, or a related field, together with excellent verbal and written communication, and experience of collaboration with colleagues of engineering and non-engineering backgrounds. Candidates must be registered as a professional engineer or be eligible for and committed to registration.

About Department of Civil Engineering, University of Victoria
Civil Engineering is a newly established department in the Faculty of Engineering. The Faculty of Engineering is a large, complex Faculty offering engineering and computer science programs to over 2000 undergraduates and 500 graduate students. The Department of Civil Engineering is home to approximately 250 students.
