KFL&A Public Health is a local public health agency with over 200 staff and 150 volunteers who deliver public health programs and services to the people of the KFL&A area. The agency has an immediate opening for a Manager, Quality & Chief Nursing Officer.
This management role is responsible for pursuing a continuous quality philosophy and excellence at the organizational level, including leading, monitoring, supporting, coordinating and reporting on agency-wide quality improvement (QI) and quality assurance (QA) initiatives. From a quality improvement perspective, this involves scoping, directing, planning and managing continuous improvement projects, developing staff continuous quality improvement (CQI) competencies, and improving the effectiveness and efficiency of agency systems, processes and practices. From a quality assurance perspective, this involves conducting regular internal reviews to ensure compliance with internal and external requirements.
The Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) role is responsible for enhancing the health outcomes of the community at individual, group and population levels by contributing to organizational strategic planning and decision making, by facilitating recruitment and retention of qualified, competent public health nursing staff and enabling quality public health nursing practice which facilitates evidence-based services and quality health outcomes in the public health context. The CNO provides direction, leadership, administration and overall supervision of the Nursing Practice Leader position that facilitates this work.
The successful candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree in nursing and a graduate degree in public health, nursing, business administration, community health, health promotion, health administration or other relevant equivalent. Current unrestricted registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario; membership with appropriate professional associations; and a Quality designation (e.g. Lean, Six Sigma, ASQ Certification) or demonstrated knowledge and experience of continuous quality assurance equivalent to the skills acquired through the completion of the program are required. Ten years nursing experience, including experience in public health, continuous quality improvement experience at a professional level, and managing staff and projects.
