TRANSPORTATION ENGINEERING - The Civil & Environmental Engineering Department at California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo invites applications for a full-time, academic year, tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant or Associate Professor level in the area of Transportation Engineering with special emphasis on sustainable transportation systems, complete street modeling, or multimodal transportation network analysis. Rank and salary are commensurate with qualifications and experience. The position is available starting Fall 2014.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: (a) teaching undergraduate classes and laboratories in civil engineering in general and transportation engineering in particular, as well as graduate courses in area of specialization; (b) supervising undergraduate and graduate-level research; (c) developing and maintaining externally-funded research programs; (d) collaborating with other faculty on research and professional development interests. The Department has two separate B.S. degree programs with approximately 600 undergraduate students in the Civil Engineering Program and 225 in the Environmental Engineering Program. Both programs are ABET accredited. The Department also offers an M.S. degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering with approximately 60 active graduate students.
Candidates for the position are required to have earned undergraduate and doctorate degrees in Civil Engineering or a closely related field. Experience in transportation planning/engineering, supported by a record of scholarly publications, is preferred. Professional registration, LEED certification, and industry/consulting experience are desirable. A commitment to working in a multidisciplinary and collaborative setting is expected.
