Responsible for coordinating the day-to-day operations of the Traffic Management Center (TMC). Monitor system resources to quickly detect and identify incident or hazardous conditions. Prepare incident and construction event information. Monitor system performance and generate work orders as required. Perform record keeping tasks, communication logs and incident reports. Responsible for monitoring traffic corridors in real time. Troubleshoot applications such as cameras, conflict monitors, signal software, battery backups, etc. Review and inspect ITS construction projects. Monitor and develop traffic patterns for work zones and lane closures. Responsible for collecting raw data from Advanced Transportation System (ATMS), analyze and recommend appropriate changes. Coordinate with other agencies and construction staff. Monitor Roadway Weather Information System (RWIS). Display VMS or record audio messages in accordance with TMC guidelines. May be required to train TMS Operators with less experience. Perform any other related duties as required or assigned. Requires flexible work hours, rotating shifts, and on-call support to meet the demands of the TMC operation.
Must have education or experience equivalent to two years of college, plus 5 years related experience and/or training. Must have basic knowledge of Traffic Management Software, Intelligent Transportation Systems protocol and ITS technologies communications principles and systems. Knowledge of specialized field (however acquired), related to Traffic Engineering such as: Traffic Signal Timings and Terminology, Highway Capacity Software, TS2 Type I controllers, or ITS communication principles and systems. Must possess or obtain a valid Oklahoma driver's license and a driving record acceptable to the City's insurance carrier. A thorough working knowledge of basic computer programs such as spreadsheets, word processors and database programs is required. Must have ability to cope with some job stress, and must be capable of working closely with coworkers. Human relation skills are important. Must be capable of performing duties with minimum supervision.
