| The Indiana Department of Transportation is pleased to announce that it will offer the Governor’s Public Service Summer Internship Program in 2016. The internship program was created in 1989 to introduce bright and motivated college students to the operations and officials of state government. |
Interns are provided the opportunity to work within the Department of Transportation, as well as participate in a Speaker Series, which features various elected officials, state agency directors and other government representatives. Students are encouraged to interact with one another regarding their varying experiences and to attend any meetings and forums throughout the Government Center complex that are open to the public and would enhance their summer experience.
The Department of Transportation offers opportunities in a wide variety of fields, and while a majority of the positions are focused towards engineering, there are also positions in finance, governmental policy, information technology, surveying, legal/law, history, and more.
The Governor’s summer internship will provide a short-term professional/technical experience. The interns will spend at least 50 percent of their time on a pre-determined project that enhances college-level skills and abilities. In order to be eligible for this position, applicants must be enrolled as undergraduates or graduates in an accredited post-secondary institution, and have completed one year of undergraduate education.
