General: - Bachelor's degree in engineering from an Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) accredited program. - A minimum of 10 years of relevant engineering experience.
Clearance: - Must possess a Final Secret Security Clearance.
Travel: - CONUS travel may be required.
Preferred Qualifications: - Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (e.g., Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Access, and Outlook). - Demonstrated technical leadership experience in a relevant engineering discipline. - Demonstrated expertise in all phases of the DoD acquisition lifecycle-per DoDI 5000.02. - Experience with Air Force and FAA airworthiness processes and certification requirements-to include familiarity with the FAA Supplemental Type Certification process. - Knowledge and experience with the application of FAA and Military Airworthiness Certification policies, guidance, and mandates during the design, verification, and production of fixed wing aircraft. - Experience with general DoD systems engineering principles and processes related to systems design, integration, quality and industrial engineering.
- Develop, deploy, and maintain processes to assure weapon systems are fully integrated, manufactured, sustained, configuration managed and operationally safe, suitable and effective throughout their life cycle. - Apply AFPD 62-6, USAF Airworthiness, and other applicable Air Force and FAA regulatory guidance and directives through standardized processes, and issuance of flight authorizations. - Support the program office Airworthiness Certification Working Group by developing and maintaining a comprehensive Airworthiness Criteria Certification (Tailored Airworthiness Certification Criteria and/or Modification Airworthiness Certification Criteria) compliance package, and preparing an airworthiness-related risk assessment. - Support the planning and execution of the Airworthiness Review Board Meeting in support of obtaining military flight releases/Military Type Certificates. Produce draft documentation as requested or necessitated by programmatic limits based on cost, schedule and performance to support the airworthiness process. - Review/develop/update applicable program documentation for airworthiness and systems engineering relevant requirements/issues. - Apply OSS&E and Airworthiness processes to applicable risk assessments, safety analyses and recommendations, and address high priority safety issues. - Apply knowledge of systems engineering in support of system definition, development, integration, verification methods, sustainment, risk modeling/simulation, test and evaluation, human system integration, crew stations engineering, OSS&E efforts, interoperability requirements, and airworthiness certification across a wide range of hardware and software systems, including ground based systems. - Provide system integration guidance for the system installation and system maintenance. - Review and analyze technical proposals or modifications for design feasibility and system capability. - Support performance effectiveness, cost effectiveness, cost performance, lifecycle cost, producibility, maintainability, supportability, reliability, technical and schedule risk assessments, and scheduling trade-off studies. - Provide test and evaluation planning, verification and oversight support. - Additional duties as assigned.
