Amec Foster Wheeler Environment & Infrastructure, Inc. currently has an opportunity available for a Construction Manager / Site Superintendent to support the closure of a Phosphogypsum Stack located in north central Illinois. This position will support a large closure project including lining and capping the northern portion of the stack (~ 85 acres), limited regrading of the southern portion of the stack, grading, lining and installation of a buried seepage collection system, storm water management and revegetation. The Construction Manager will supervise subcontractors and be responsible for monitoring the day-to-day field operations to ensure safety, quality and schedule goals are achieved.
Support the Project Manager by directing subcontractors and foremen to ensure timely and quality completion of contracted work
Ensure work conforms to contracted statement of work, project plans and specifications
Review daily subcontractor construction reports and take action as necessary
Prepare daily project reports based on subcontractors, trades and material vendors
Proactively address issues to maintain the project schedule and project budget
Create and manage job schedules to include baseline development, cost loading, schedule status updates and schedule look ahead
Supervise inspection, testing, commissioning and final punch out in accordance with commissioning and quality control plan
Review subcontractor invoices versus subcontract schedule of values, scope performed and material utilized
Build and maintain positive relationships with customers, contractors and suppliers
Lead and / or attend regular construction meetings to support efficient communication among project stakeholders
Plan and direct site mobilization / demobilization activities
Timely and accurately report all worksite quality in accordance with quality control plan
Immediate, accurate reporting of all project safety incidents. Promote safe work with the intent of preventing injuries and implement client specific practices. Ensure work is executed in accordance with site accident prevention plan and activity hazard analyses and deliver routine safety briefings
Skills / Qualifications
Minimum 10 years of experience with onsite supervision of large earth moving and lining construction
Project history demonstrating successful support of construction projects of greater than $10 Million
Knowledgeable of major regulations, industry codes and standards, as well as basic construction materials and means and methods
Experience managing a large workforce, assigning responsibilities and communicating expectations
Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Microsoft Project or similar
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Strong written and oral communication skills
Willingness to live in the north central Illinois area
Experience in supporting work for Major Oil Corporations
Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or a relevant Engineering field
Completion of OSHA 30 hour and OSHA 40 hour HAZWOPPER safety courses
Certified Construction Manager (CCM) or other similar certifications
Completion of USACE QC Manager course in the last five years
