Amec Foster Wheeler Environment & Infrastructure’s Chelmsford office is seeking a motivated, junior Civil / Environmental Engineer to support projects involving planning, permitting, engineering design, and construction oversight related to a variety of projects including civil site design, stormwater management, environmental remediation, and construction oversight. The Chelmsford office includes a multi-disciplinary environmental consulting team with approximately 75 professionals including engineers, scientists, risk assessors, environmental permitting, designers, and support staff. Amec Foster Wheeler offers the opportunity to work on technically challenging and innovative projects for a wide range of clients throughout the US.
This position offers the opportunity to work with a diverse team of engineers and scientists to address complex environmental challenges executing the following roles / responsibilities:
Analyze and interpret environmental data and prepare routine monitoring reports
Develop erosion and sediment control designs and Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans for construction sites
Prepare feasibility studies and final designs for stormwater BMPs for new and redevelopment (retrofit) projects
Prepare feasibility studies and final designs for environmental remediation projects
Support engineering projects with field data collection, analysis and preliminary design
Support engineering projects with construction oversight and inspection
Perform environmental compliance inspections for municipal, commercial and industrial facilities
Skills / Qualifications
BS in Civil or Environmental Engineering
1 to 3 years of report writing, field assessments, planning, design and permitting experience
Excellent written and verbal communication skills and strong interpersonal skills. Strong organizational abilities
Familiarity with Microsoft Office products
Demonstrated professional judgment, consistency and attention to detail
Ability and willingness to travel to project sites and anticipated travel expected to be less than 10% overnight travel; however, extended travel up to two weeks is possible at times
Adaptability and willingness to adjust to client needs
Flexibility to work outside of normal business hours if required
Must pass drug test, physical, background check and must have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the Company's driving (MVR) policy
Engineer-In-Training (EIT) or Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) certification
Construction inspection / oversight experience
40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER Training
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team with the ability / desire to lead tasks
Attention to detail
Self-starter and fast learner
Field activities may require working in unfavorable weather conditions
May lift equipment and carry laboratory samples which require the ability to lift up to 40 pounds
