The City of Pasadena is currently seeking an industrious, committed, and skilled Senior Engineering Technician for our Transportation Department team of professionals. The current vacancy is in the Traffic Engineering Division of our Transportation Department.
The ideal candidate for this position has several years of experience as an Engineering Technician, is AUTOCAD and GIS-proficient, and preferably has a background in Transportation Engineering.

The major responsibilities of this position are listed below.
Performs computer aided drafting to generate traffic work orders, channelization plans, parking plan layouts, maps, various display layouts, condition diagrams and related projects;
Assists in making field measurements, data collection, and conducting traffic studies such as speed surveys, ball bank studies, traffic volume counts, etc.;
Conducts field assessments for placement of replacement of traffic control devices such as signs and curb markings
Creates maps using Geographic Information System (GIS) technology;
Manages operation of GIS equipment, software, various traffic databases, and purchase orders for Citywide Traffic Count services and others; and
Responds to questions from the general public regarding traffic engineering information such as traffic counts, truck routes, programs, regulations and construction permits.
Graduation from high school or GED equivalent, supplemented by college-level course work in engineering technology, drafting, engineering mathematics or related fields; and
Four years of progressively responsible experience in performing sub-professional engineering duties; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Public agency experience and Associates degree or higher is preferred.
