The Contra Costa Water District has an immediate opening for an Engineering Support Supervisor in our Engineering Department. The position's major responsibilities include, but are not limited to, planning, administering, and coordinating all technical and administrative functions to support new development applications, design projects and ongoing planning, development and maintenance of the District's Geographical Information System (GIS). This position is responsible for communicating clearly and accurately the requirements for new service connections, responding to questions from the public, investigating complaints, and recommending corrective actions as necessary, providing District-wide GIS service oversight and overseeing development of new GIS applications and database enhancements. The applicant must also be knowledgeable in Computer Assisted Design and Drafting (CADD), GIS, MS Office, civil engineering and water pipe design practices and procedures, drafting techniques, estimating materials, reproduction techniques, engineering records, and preparing presentation graphics. This position will also participate in budget preparations and administration, prepare cost estimates for budget recommendations, submit written justifications for equipment, supply, and staff, and monitor and control expenditures. In addition, this position will manage staff including preparation of performance appraisals and providing and coordinating staff training.
The general job functions for the Engineering Support Supervisor are to plan, organize, direct and supervise engineering support services operations and engineering services coordination within the Engineering Department; and to perform a variety of technical tasks relative to assigned area of responsibility.
EDUCATION: Equivalent to Associate's degree from an accredited college with major course work in engineering technology, some computer systems, mapping and GIS college courses are highly desirable.
EXPERIENCE: Five years of increasingly responsible experience in technical engineering support, including one year of lead responsibility.
LICENSE OR CERTIFICATE: Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid California driver's license. Possession of, or ability to obtain, a CAD technical certificate.
