The Quality Engineer for the Controls Technologies Division will work within the production unit and shares ownership for the production unit performance. The Quality Engineer will support the team in continuously improving their performance and meeting or exceeding targeted goals for key Quality Operating System (QOS) metrics. The Quality Engineer will report directly to the Quality Manager and will perform tasks as needed while providing adequate resources to the production unit.
Participate in the achievement of goals for the production unit relative to key QOS metrics; including gross margins, scrap, rework, direct labor costs, labor efficiency, safety, equipment utilization (OEE), on-time delivery, material usage variance, overtime costs, customer complaints, and expense spending.
Participate in focus team meetings and support team to make data driven decisions to help drive improvements.
Provide support to the team on setting up process controls and developing acceptable methods of measurement.
Define, establish, interpret acceptance criteria.
Coordinate FA activities and provide feedback to the customer and production unit.
Manage all internal and external corrective actions and facilitate the 8-D process for all issues related to the production unit.
Coordinate all PPAP activities for new or changed product in the production unit.
Review and approve all documents affecting the production unit.
Participate in the APQP process for any new or changed parts within the Production unit.
Coordinates supplier issues, initiate MRB and assign corrective actions as necessary.
Assist in the development and implementation of Layered Process Audits for the production units.
Ensure ongoing compliance to all customer requirements as well as Quality System requirements.
Provides Leadership and guidance to Quality Technicians.
Professional and Technical Experience and Education:
Bachelor’s Degree in a technical field (Engineering preferred) or a combination of an Associate’s degree with related experience.3+ years of Quality Engineering experience within a high-volume manufacturing environment.
3+ years in an automotive manufacturing environment.
Proven track record of accomplishments in the areas of Continuous Improvement, Corrective Action, successful PPAP submissions and product launches.
Proven success as a facilitator in working with teams on root cause analysis and implementation of corrective actions.
Data driven mindset in identifying and prioritizing opportunities and issues.
Energetic and self-driven professional, with a high degree of customer focus.
Straightforward in thoughts, speech, and actions – unquestionable integrity.
Excellent communication and negotiation skills, both internally and externally.
Strong analytical skills, strategic thinking ability, and problem solving capacity.
