Amec Foster Wheeler Environment & Infrastructure is currently seeking an Engineer-In-Training / Design professional with experience in water resources, civil design, and / or solid waste design to support a growing Civil Engineering team. The ideal candidate is an energetic, self-motivated professional with experience in engineering design, as well as, drawing preparation and assembly in the AutoCAD Civil 3D and / or Microstation platforms.
The ideal candidate will be an integral part of Amec Foster Wheeler’s Civil Engineering team and will work with and be mentored by our water resources, civil design, and solid waste professional engineers. Engineering efforts include preparing design calculations, developing computer models using industry-specific software programs, quantity take offs, cost estimates, plans & specifications, report preparation and writing.
Performing calculations related to water resources, civil, and solid waste design
Building spreadsheets and computer models for various design elements
Preparing permit applications and construction documents
Interacting with clients, regulatory agencies, contractors, and subcontractors
Preparing and reviewing construction documents, technical specifications, and opinions of probable construction costs
Some travel / field work may be required
Skills / Qualifications
Bachelors Degree in Civil Engineering
Engineer-in-Training certification required, Professional Engineer registration preferred
3 – 5+ years’ experience in civil / water / drainage / solid waste design
Capacity to conduct work independently with minimal supervision and oversight
Able to work well in a team environment, multi-task, and handle multiple assignments at once
Possess good analytical, verbal, and written communication skills
Experience preparing construction drawings using AutoCAD Civil 3D and / or Microstation
Knowledge of earth grading, drainage, and erosion control design
Additional Desired Qualifications
Experience using ArcGIS
Knowledge of and experience with North Carolina solid waste regulations
