The Quality Engineer (QE) is the liaison between Crestron’s manufacturing/production and the Quality team on all quality related issues.
The QE will plan and lead process improvement initiatives through Lean/quality methodologies and be responsible for the monitoring and controlling of the manufacturing quality operations of daily plant activity to counter operational and/or equipment related problems with an in-depth, on-the-floor problem solving approach.
The QE will play a key role in the Quality team by supporting all internal production, field, and service related quality events by executing and implementing error proofed solutions and process/production continuous improvement principles.
The selected applicant will have demonstrated experience successfully leading projects resulting in measurable improvements (continual in-process and preventative).
The QE will maintain appropriate project documentation including product performance, quality improvements, progress updates and final reports.
Drive continuous improvement in Crestron’s production quality, cycle, and delivery performance through utilization tools such as Six Sigma DMAIC, APQP, FMEA, SPC, 8D Root Cause Analysis and Lean Manufacturing concepts.
Optimize process capability on significant characteristics through effective application of statistical analysis techniques.
Maintain and analyzes Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and Cost of Poor Quality data to identify recurring trends and drive improvement actions to reduce internal and external failure costs.
Work effectively with SQE, production engineering and manufacturing teams to eliminate any barriers that may affect the overall quality and delivery of product and apply knowledge of inspection equipment and techniques to provide timely data usable for informed decision-making.
Assists in the development of PFMEA’s (Process Failure Mode Effect Analysis) and control plans where required.
Establish a structured approach to improve quality assurance and drive consistency and adherence to quality procedures by collaborating with production engineering/production to define and scope improvement opportunities.
Analyzes product or equipment specifications and performance requirements to determine product standards and criteria, quality metrics, and any pertinent corrective actions that may be required in the quest to produce high quality products.
Capture and communicate lessons learned and best practices to enable best practice development and replication.
Meet plant goals and standards in safety, quality, delivery and cost.
Propose and evaluate manufacturing processes and equipment for assigned areas of plant.
Reviewing and evaluating product requests from customers, and may formulate conceptual solutions to meet customer requirements.
Minimum of five years of related experience in a production or manufacturing role, preferred working experience in a similar capacity as process/quality engineering.
Must have hands-on working experience with in process control and process optimization within an electronics manufacturing (or similar) industry.
A dynamic personality style with the ability and willingness to promote appropriate change and improvement
General familiarity with electronic manufacturing equipment.
Experience in Six Sigma and Lean methodology; certified preferred.
Must be open to travel as needed.
Solid understanding of receiving inspection processes including statistical sampling, component measurement techniques, specifications and drawings.
Excellent problem resolution, judgment, and decision making skills required with thorough working knowledge of Quality systems methods and practices (DOE, PFMEA, Control Plans, Lean Manufacturing concepts, DMAIC, Root Cause Analysis, etc.).
Ability to manage multiple projects and priories concurrently.
Proficient in spreadsheet (report formatting, graphing, formula a calculation generation), database, presentation and project management tools (i.e. Excel, Minitab, etc).
Ability to read and understand assembly drawings, schematics, block diagrams and Engineering Change Notices for the purpose of specific inspection criteria and evaluation.
Excellent written and oral communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
Proficient with a personal computer and selected software applications including Outlook, Word, and Excel, Access, PowerPoint.
