Amec Foster Wheeler Environment & Infrastructure is currently seeking to fill a Senior Geotechnical Engineer position in our Cambridge OR London office to support our growth. You will use your leadership and interpersonal skills to manage projects and lead multidisciplinary project teams. This position will involve technical leadership on projects and supervision and consult on the team. You will use your technical skills to oversee technical quality and deliver high quality engineering services in geotechnical investigations, conceptual design, feasibility studies, detailed engineering design, specifications, drawings, reports and construction. You will be responsible for the long-term development and management of clients and related business development activities. You will mentor and participate in the development of the geotechnical group, and continue to develop positive working relationships with other Amec Foster Wheeler offices.
The Ontario West Geotechnical group currently offers a wide range of services, specifically tuned to the clients’ needs. We currently provide geotechnical services to major clients in the transportation; all levels of Government and Industrial/Commercial sectors. This is an opportunity to work in a truly consultative environment, interfacing directly with and advising clients.
Consult on a wide variety of challenging projects within several market sectors such as; infrastructure, mining, energy, oil and gas
Geotechnical engineering evaluation and assessment of various developments and providing recommendations to address applicable issues, such as: foundation design, slope stability, soil improvements and others
Working on a variety of small to large projects spanning from transportation; residential; commercial and industrial developments
Client and contractor management
Project Manage all aspects of geotechnical investigations for buildings, highways, bridges, retaining walls, slope stability, and municipal infrastructure
Coordinate and carry out field review of construction works and material testing of geotechnical materials
Coordinate with project teams and other discipline leads to manage project deliverables, ensuring schedule and budget are achieved
Lead and actively pursue new business and project opportunities; maintain and develop client relations
Lead the planning, field support and completion of geotechnical site investigations
Assist in the ongoing development of our geotechnical team by providing direction and mentorship to the junior and intermediate staff
Skills / Qualifications
Post-graduate degree in Geo-Engineering discipline such as Geotechnical Engineering or Geological Engineering
Minimum 15 years of experience in Geo-engineering field in Canada
Registered P.Eng; and prior experience within a consulting geotechnical engineering environment
Ministry of Transportation project experience considered an asset
A high level of proficiency with current geotechnical software applications
Valid Ontario Driver’s License
Strong technical, oral and written communication skills
Exceptional analytical and project management skills
Ability to work independently and cooperate with a team in various environments
