Amec Foster Wheeler Environment & Infrastructure’s Burnaby BC office currently has an opportunity available for a Senior Occupational Hygiene & Safety Specialist. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to provide Safety, Health and Environment support in an exciting, fast paced consulting environment.
Conduct occupational hygiene assessments in various client sectors
Assess buildings for various hazardous materials including asbestos, lead, PCBs, mercury components, ozone-depleting substances and suspect visible mould growth
Conduct reviews of building mechanical ventilation systems and monitoring for various indoor air quality parameters
Work with clients to produce safety and hygiene control strategies including safe work procedures and exposure control plans
Project management and successful execution of projects, including the development and maintenance of project scopes, schedules and budgets, and supervision of project staff
Client development and management, including communication through verbal and written correspondence
Collaborate with senior staff to develop and implement group growth strategies, including marketing and preparation of proposals
Opportunity to collaborate with other Amec Foster Wheeler offices on projects in Western Canadian
Maintain and upgrade skills by attending seminars, training courses, further education, etc.
Participate in safety meetings and conduct site safety inspections
Maintain air sampling pumps, monitors and other associated equipment
Skills / Qualifications
Post-secondary education in Occupational Health and Safety, Occupational Hygiene or related science
Certified as a CRSP (Canadian Registered Safety Professional) preferred; Working towards certification will be considered; Registered Occupational ROH (Registered Occupational Hygienist) or CIH (Certified Industrial Hygienist) an asset
Minimum of ten years of experience in Occupational Hygiene and/or Environmental Health and Safety field
Desire to provide exceptional client service and a commitment to technical excellence.
Ability to travel for out of town work is essential
Strong computer skills (e.g. Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Enthusiastic and positive attitude and commitment to technical excellence
Strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
Valid Driver’s License
