Amec Foster Wheeler Environment & Infrastructure is seeking a motivated, skilled Engineer with 5-10 years of facility compliance engineering, permitting, process and other environmental engineering experience to join our Chelmsford, MA office and become an integral member of our team.
This person will be a member of a team providing environmental engineering services, such as compliance audits, facility inspections and compliance reporting, to private industry. This position will support a wide variety of projects including air emissions inventories, permit applications, stormwater plans, SPCC Plans, and support for other environmental compliance projects. Some of the responsibilities of this position will include:
Provide air quality permitting and regulatory support for existing and new industrial clients (i.e., biopharmaceutical, manufacturing, petrochemical, utility, hospital, university)
Review existing permit conditions for applicability, conformity with rules, and site compliance
Develop technical tools and approaches for successful project completion
Interface with regulatory agencies for permit development and compliance
Technical review and mentoring of junior engineering staff
Environmental compliance areas including, but not limited to: SPCC planning, stormwater planning, wastewater permitting, toxic chemical usage/processing reporting and hazardous waste related projects
Will travel to project sites locally, surrounding states, and various areas of the country
Skills / Qualifications
BS degree in Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering or other technical field - MS degree is a plus
5 + years’ experience in environmental engineering and air permitting, air pollution control, prevention or abatement in Massachusetts and surrounding states
Computer proficient (must have proficiency in Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and excellent spreadsheet skills
Strong technical writing skills
Demonstrated verbal communication and technical presentation skills
Team player and technical contributor
Able to define scope, schedule, and budget for project implementation
Must pass drug test, background check, and must have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the Company's driving (MVR) policy
Engineer-In-Training (EIT) or Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) certification
Experience related to air, water, wastewater, and/or hazardous waste environmental permitting
40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER Training
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team with the ability/desire to lead tasks.
Attention to detail
Ability to read, interpret and apply information on State and Federal technical guidance, and regulations, and compliance determinations
