Title: Engineering Manager Reports to: General Manager EEO Classification: First/Mid Offs & Mgrs. ADAAA Classification: Medium Duty
It is the policy of Indiana Bridge, Inc.’s Engineering Department to maintain a competent staff, consisting of an Engineering Manager, Draftsperson or Subcontract Detailer, and Clerical person(s) to provide shop detail drawings that will interpret the owner’s designs and specifications, which are approved by the owner.
The work performed by this department will take into consideration economies in production without forsaking sound engineering practices.
The Engineering Department Manager will direct the activities of the Engineering Department and will be responsible to the General Manager.
The policy of the Engineering Department is to work and cooperate with the Quality Control Department.
The Engineering Department shall work and cooperate with other departments in the company to administer the quality assurance program and produce a product that conforms to customer requirements, project specification, AISC and other applicable specifications.
The Engineering Manager performs a variety of duties, including, but not limited to:
• Prepare the pre-plan for each project by working with the owner, engineer, subs, erector, etc. • Responsible for overseeing the subcontractor design services • Responsible for overseeing the subcontract detailing services • Responsible for document and data control - drawing logs, contract documents, shop drawings, sub-contract drawings, etc. • Review non-conforming items due to drafting errors or fabrication errors and provide a corrective action in accordance with contract documents. • Responsible for issuing drawings for approval, receive drawings from approval and issue drawings to the shop • Review and interpretation of all contract documents, contracts drawings, and specifications • Speak with EORs if requested by PM • Speak with Detailers • Help with RFI’s as needed by PM • Maintain an approved detailing list with detailers’ and checkers’ resumes. • Maintain the IB Quality Manual and Procedures Manual (including Sophisticated Paint) • Maintain the IB Drafting Standards • Maintains a library of all the latest applicable specifications • FabTrol • Review the approval drawings to verify agreement with the Pre-Plan, Drafting Standards, and • Contract requirements • Visit detailers or engineers as directed by GM or PM • Extract information from SDS/2 and Tekla for use by other departments if requests • Help with programming CNC equipment • Help train other employees • Help with AISC Internal Audit • Assist with any field issues • Participate in the Safety Committee • Participate in the Steering Committee • Participate in the Executive Committee
Work Environment & Physical Requirements • Primary work area is a controlled office environment but will occasionally be exposed to a loud, dirty shop setting or being out in adverse weather conditions without temperature or other environmental controls and subject to ambient weather conditions. The position will require occasional project site visits as well.
Classification & Compensation • The position is full-time, salaried and exempt from overtime under the Fair Labor Standards Act. • The pay range varies, depending on experience, skills, abilities, and length of service with the Company • This position is eligible for the Company’s discretionary profit sharing bonus program Measurements of Success • Cumulative and Individual Project Profitability • Minimization of Risk and possible project losses
Qualifications & Abilities • Bachelor of Science in Engineering • Minimum 5 years’ experience in the structural steel fabrication, with a minimum of two (2) years’ engineering experience.
Additional Salary Information: Salary is DOE, using industry standards.
