Position Summary: The Manager of Transmission Engineering is primarily responsible for the leadership of Transmission Engineers to help achieve high levels of performance and maintain a positive organizational culture.
Tasks and Responsibilities:
Management of transmission engineering processes to ensure successful completion of projects and successful transmission asset performance
Leadership in execution of Energy Delivery Services (EDS) business strategies
Perform transmission engineering supervision and provide technical guidance, mentoring and leadership
Responsible for the design, construction, and maintenance of transmission assets
Sign and seal transmission engineering designs of Engineers-in-Training
Testify in condemnation cases as a Professional Engineer
Develop and maintain transmission engineering design standards and construction practices
Prepare and manage transmission portfolio budget and schedule
Manage evaluation of customer plats and site work plans in transmission easements
Develop contracts for transmission professional engineering services and construction
Perform corporate administrative duties and general administrative duties
Perform other duties as assigned
Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil or Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited university
Professional Engineer License active in the State of Texas
Extensive background in transmission, substation and/or distribution engineering
Effective oral and written communication skills, including presentation skills
Proficient in Microsoft Office programs, including word processing, spreadsheets, database, presentation software, electronic mail and scheduling
Valid Class C Texas Driver’s License with a favorable driving record0
Experience in management of personnel in engineering design of transmission, substation and/or distribution projects
Experience with the following software:
Modeling steel monopoles using PLS-POLE
Modeling latticed towers using PLS-TOWER
Ability to translate business objectives into strategic/tactical processes
Ability to work in a team environment, coordinating with other areas to achieve goals and objectives
Experience managing department/program budgets
Experience writing and managing contracts
Ability to communicate effectively and develop successful long-term relationships with internal and external stakeholders with the highest degree of professionalism, clarity, and diplomacy
Competencies: Important to this position are effective communication, ability to direct work and ability to drive results.
Working Conditions: Work in this position is performed both indoors and outdoors. This position requires operating computer, manual dexterity, talking, hearing, and repetitive motion. This position requires the use of personal computing equipment, telephone, multi-functioning printer and calculator. This position may potentially expose the applicant to hazardous, wet or humid conditions, outdoor weather, noisy and dusty environment. This position requires travel to and from meetings, training sessions or other business related events. This position requires after hours work.
