Job Description Summary

LSU Agricultural Center, Department of Facilities Planning, Baton Rouge, Louisiana. This position reports to the Director of Facilities Planning. This department provides long range planning and master site planning for the AgCenter, provides design services and project management for all construction/renovation projects, represents AgCenter interest and provides design guidance and project management for Capital Outlay projects and with outside design firms of projects, provides support for the AgCenter’s research and extension programs, and develops and maintains design standards as it relates to AgCenter facilities. This position will provide administrative, civil/agricultural engineering/management support for these functions.

Job Description

Responsibilities for this position will include the following areas:  Civil/Agricultural engineering design and management:  Provide engineering design and support for civil/agricultural related projects including laboratory/office buildings, agricultural research support facilities, streets, parking, traffic, sidewalks, irrigation and drainage, land development, utility systems, etc. This function will include AutoCAD drafting, estimating, surveying, contract & requisition preparation, construction administration, site inspection and observation reports, project closeout and keeping project database up to date.  Project management:  Provide project management of projects being designed by outside design firms in all phases from inception through completion, including coordinating plan reviews and reviewing plan submissions, conducts and attends project meetings as it relates to monitoring, and scheduling and tracking projects and budgets.  Plan review:  Review project plans for the AgCenter as it relates to civil and site features and provide comments to the designers.  Design Standards:  Update and maintain design standards as it relates to civil and site related activities and projects. Administrative Duties: Provide assistance to the Director in day-to-day administration of Facilities Planning as the department carries out its service mission to the AgCenter and College of Agriculture. Other Duties: Performs other tasks as assigned by the Director of Facilities Planning.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: Minimum qualifications include Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Agricultural Engineering, a professional license to practice engineering in the State of Louisiana.  A minimum of two years of post-licensure design and construction management experience is required. The incumbent must also be proficient in AutoCAD, Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.  A working knowledge of current applicable codes is desired.
