Surveying and Civil Engineering at Cushing Terrell:

 

Cushing Terrell is seeking a Lead Land Surveyor (PLS) for our Montana offices with survey experience in multiple jurisdictions throughout the region. You will lead the survey division within our Civil Engineering Service Sector and Infrastructure Vertical Market, providing leadership and development to existing survey staff, and build survey teams in offices throughout the company.

 

Civil Engineering and Surveying at Cushing Terrell represents a crucial piece of the complex building-design puzzle, often as the first step in the entitlements, and permitting processes on a variety of project types. As a member of this team, you will be collaborating with a group of civil engineers, architects, mechanical engineers, electrical engineers, designers, and drafters while growing our surveying presence in your local market and nationwide.

 

This is primarily an office-focused position, but field work may be required if workload and backlog demand warrant it. The qualified candidate will have their choice of primary locations in our Missoula, Bozeman, Livingston, or Billings, MT offices.

 

A Lead Surveyor at Cushing Terrell:

 

Serves as trusted advisor to our clients and project teams. Has in-depth technical knowledge about surveying practices in Montana and beyond. Researches property information to prepare detailed scope, budget, and schedule proposals for surveying and construction staking projects. Manages survey teams, distributes workload, research, and field assignments. Mentors Survey Technicians and other Land Surveyors. Provides surveying services and consultation to clients. Implements and innovates effective practices, methods, techniques, and equipment for the practice of land surveying. Verifies and utilizes current applicable regulations when overseeing projects. Can read and interpret engineering plans and construction documents. Has the ability to utilize Arch GIS, GPS surveying software, and AutoCAD. Experience with drone and LIDAR surveying a plus. Has the availability to do frequent travel You’ll love this role if you:

 

Have a Bachelor’s or Associates degree in Land Surveying or minor in Land Surveying. Have 8+ years’ experience in the survey and planning industry. Have a current PLS in Montana. Additional states preferred. Have experience in new business development. Have the desire to build and grow a team of surveyors across multiple offices. Prioritize work sharing, knowledge transfer, and standards development. Have excellent oral and written communication skills. Equity:
