Job Details

Position Information:

Performs difficult professional engineering work with program responsibility for planning, designing, installing, modifying and maintaining the operations of an agency's island-wide radio-telephone communications and related radio activated systems; designs and adapts radio and other electronic equipment to meet operational requirements; and performs other related duties as required.

The current vacancy is within the Operations Support Branch of the Information Technology Division of the Honolulu Board of Water Supply (BWS) and plans, supervises and manages the operation of the IT Field Services Support Section. The position is responsible for planning, designing, and overseeing the installation, upgrade, maintenance and support of the BWS island-wide wireless (radio) data communication systems, security camera systems, IT electrical and cabling.  This position must be able to lift up to 40 lbs., overhead and work at heights to repair communication systems. This list may be used for future vacancies in this and/or other departments.


Minimum Qualification Requirements: 

EDUCATION REQUIREMENT:  Equivalent to graduation from an accredited four year college or university with a bachelor’s degree in an engineering specialty or a related field. Work experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree on a year-for-year basis.  Such experience must have provided the knowledge, skills, and analytical ability normally gained from attainment of a bachelor's degree.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT:  Three years of experience in the design, installation, maintenance and repair of radio transmitters and related equipment.
 
LICENSE REQUIREMENT:  Valid Hawaii State driver’s license (Type 3), as required.
