Position Summary: Villanova University’s Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE) seeks candidates for a full-time tenure-track position in transportation engineering starting in the spring or fall 2022 semester. The Department is looking for a faculty member with expertise in smart transportation systems and closely related fields. Specific topics of interest include but are not limited to: smart mobility; human factors; autonomous and connected systems; data analytics; resilient infrastructure design; and risk and reliability of engineered systems. The position is at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor as determined by the qualifications of the candidate.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The candidate will be expected to develop a sustainable research program, mentor undergraduate and graduate students, teach and develop undergraduate and graduate courses, and engage in impactful service.
Minimum Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering or a closely aligned discipline (must be completed at the time of hire).

The CEE Department has 19 full-time faculty members (13 tenure-track faculty and 6 teaching faculty), including 9 female faculty. There are approximately 220 undergraduate students and 125 graduate students enrolled in the B.S. (Civil Engineering), M.S. (both Civil Engineering and Water Resources/Environmental Engineering), and Ph.D. (Engineering) degree programs.
The CEE Department is highly committed to research and the pursuit of scholarship. Department faculty annually produce approximately $2M in research expenditures and collectively publish about 20 papers in refereed journals and another 20 in refereed conference proceedings and other venues each year. Scholarship is performed in a highly collaborative environment. CEE Faculty has multiple collaborations with departments and units across campus, including interdisciplinary efforts in the College of Nursing, the Department of Geography and Environment, and all departments within the College of Engineering. The CEE Department and College of Engineering have built excellent infrastructure to support scholarship, and laboratory facilities such as the Transportation Simulation Laboratory and GIS Laboratory are available for multi- and cross-disciplinary work.
