The Minnesota Department of Transportation (MNDOT) is excited to announce we are hiring 18 Trainee, Engineer positions in our Graduate Engineer & Land Surveyor Program. Trainee positions will be located throughout the state of Minnesota in locations like Baxter, Detroit Lakes, Duluth, Mankato, Oakdale (Bridge), Rochester, Roseville, and Willmar.

Trainees will participate in the Grad Program for up to two (2) years gaining professional engineer experience by completing a series of 3 – 6 months long rotations.  Trainees can rotate through functional areas like Bridge, Construction, Design, Materials, Project Management, Traffic, or Water Resources just to name a few. The goal of the Program is to give Trainees well-rounded, board exposure to as many areas of civil/transportation engineering as possible.  All Trainees are supported with structured mentorship, continuous training opportunities and a large support network of professional engineers who are engaged in the Trainee’s training and growth as an engineer. At the conclusion of the Program, Trainees will be assigned to a permanent position at MnDOT and be promoted to a Graduate Engineer 2 classification.

Job Requirements:

To be considered for a Trainee position a candidate must hold or be in their final year of completing a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil, Construction or GeoTechnical Engineering from an ABET accredited college or university or its equivalency. All offers of employment will be contingent upon successfully completing the degree.
