Provides professional engineering oversight for the management, supervision, planning, and technical engineering work as assigned by the Planning Manager. This position is responsible for making decisions regarding application of city engineering codes, MAG Standards and professional engineering practices. This position uses independent judgment in the interpretation of policies and procedures, as well as sound applications of local, state, and federal laws and/or ordinances. The position assists in the planning, supervising, and reviewing the activities of assigned personnel as well as consulting engineers while providing highly complex staff assistance to developers and their design engineers. Candidate has flexibility and latitude for independent actions. Leadership qualities and high level customer service to internal and external customers are required.
Graduation from a college or university accredited by an agency recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education or Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) with a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering and four (4) years paid fulltime engineering experience as a P.E., two (2) years of which included management or supervisory experience. Possess a current registration as a Professional Engineer in the State of Arizona.

Apache Junction is nestled at the base of the Superstition Mountains and Usery Mountain State Park which offer various recreational activities such as hiking, camping, biking, boating, and fishing in the Tonto National Forest as well as other recreational areas. AJ is currently experiencing residential housing growth as well as new businesses.
