ICF is seeking multiple Environmental Compliance Inspectors with a strong stormwater compliance background to support a multi-year project located in Suffolk County, New York. Positions available for full-time and part-time inspectors.

 

 

 

Job Description
The Environmental Compliance Inspectors will monitor construction activities related to construction compliance monitoring for the onshore activities of offshore wind projects. The Environmental Compliance Inspectors will act as a liaison between the ICF project management team and the New York Department of Public Service (DPS) to facilitate compliance with environmental mitigation measures and permit conditions.

 

 

 

What You Will Do

 

  • Monitoring construction activities, including but not limited to, land/vegetation clearing, access and drainage improvements/installations, installation and maintenance of temporary erosion controls, work involving wetlands, streams, agricultural lands, and restoration activities

     

  • Organizing and conducting site compliance audit inspections, as described below, for DPS Staff, with the Construction Supervisor, and other Project team personnel

     

  • In coordination with the ICF Project Manager, processing Environmental Management & Construction Plan (EM&CP) Notices of Change with DPS Staff, coordinating New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYSDEC) and other agencies during regulatory inspections of the Project

     

  • Additionally, weekly inspections, at a minimum, will be conducted following the onset of construction by the Environmental Compliance Inspector until at least 80 percent revegetation of disturbed areas has occurred (except for winter periods when only monthly inspections may be appropriate). Ground disturbances will be evaluated and re-seeded as necessary to achieve 80 percent cover. The Environmental Compliance Inspector will also inspect plants in containers before planting and at planting locations to verify compliance with local guidelines and requirements. To ensure that any deficiencies noted during initial inspection have been resolved, the Environmental Compliance Inspector will also inspect completed planting and conduct a final inspection at the end of the maintenance period

     

 

 

What You Must Have

 

  • Previous construction monitoring experience, third party preferred

     

  • Previous field experience working in similar New York habitats or with similar resources

     

  • Qualifications to satisfy those of a Qualified Inspector pursuant to the NYSDEC SPDES General Permit for Stormwater Discharges from Construction Activity (GP-0-20-001).

     

    • licensed Professional Engineer, OR

       

    • Certified Professional in Erosion and Sediment Control (CPESC), OR

       

    • New York State Erosion and Sediment Control Certificate Program holder, OR

       

    • Registered Landscape Architect

       

    • Demonstrated team player with the ability to work in a fast-paced construction environment

       

    • Sound business ethics, including the protection of proprietary and confidential information

       

  • Strong communication skills with proven ability to work with others

     

  • Ability to work with all levels of internal staff, as well as outside clients and regulatory agency staff

     

  • Proficiency in MS Office Applications (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Excel)

     

  • Ability to handle multiple priorities with changing schedules, including the ability to work long hours and weekends

     

  • Valid Driver’s license

     

 

 

What We’d Like You To Have

 

  • Bachelors’ Degree in Biology, Wildlife Biology, Environmental Science, or related field, OR

     

  • Bachelors’ Degree in Civil Engineering, Landscape Architecture, or related field

     

  • Project experience working with DPS, NYDEC, and USACE.
