POSITION SUMMARY

Northern Water seeks a highly capable and versatile Senior Environmental Project Engineer to contribute to the protection and improvement of water quality in Northeastern Colorado. This position leads multiple water quality improvement initiatives and projects and supports departmental activities through a team-centered approach to problem-solving. The successful candidate will have demonstrated outstanding project management experience in applied environmental engineering fields related to surface water quality, limnology, watershed management and restoration, or water treatment and must demonstrate collaborative problem-solving. This position facilitates the development and management of collaborative water quality stakeholder groups and implements science-based restoration and planning efforts to improve water quality. The Senior Environmental Project Engineer complements a robust and dynamic team of water quality engineers and scientists and interfaces with diverse stakeholders to understand and improve water quality in watersheds associated with Northern Water’s existing and future water supply projects.

DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION

The Water Quality Department serves the Northern Water and Municipal Subdistrict, its allottees and constituents to monitor, assess, protect and improve water quality within the District boundaries.  Core responsibilities of the department include monitoring plan development, data management, reporting and assessment, involvement in regulatory issues, watershed/aquatic habitat restoration, and outreach efforts. The department also works with the Operations and Engineering Divisions to support multi stakeholder adaptive management processes to evaluate and implement operational controls to improve water quality, fisheries health, and recreation.
