Job Summary: 
The Engineer Lead supports the Big Cypress Basin’s engineering team and serves as a high level technical expert for the Big Cypress Basin and is responsible for delivering engineering services and decisions that contribute to the success of one or more of the District’s strategic programs.  A strong background in stormwater, flood control and project management are preferred.

Through consistent application of discipline knowledge, theories and best practices, incumbent represents the District on taskforces and in agency work teams.  Serves as a technical advisor and resource for executive level presentations and may serve as a spokesperson for the District at internal and external meetings.

Must have experience in  effective communication with other hydro-geologic professionals, attorneys, construction professionals, developers, agriculturists, civil engineers, and general public.  Ability to reprioritize workloads to effectively respond to special requests, unplanned situations, and changes in workflows/process is required.

Incumbent supports District emergency management operations.  May also serve as the Basin’s Water Manager of the flood control system.  May perform other relevant emergency management operations as needed.

Worksite will be the Big Cypress Basin Service Center office in Naples, Florida.  Occasional daily and overnight travel to West Palm Beach may be required.

Employment Guidelines (May be filled as Lead Engineer, Senior Engineer, or Staff Engineer):
Lead Engineer: Bachelor's Degree from an ABET/EAC accredited program and 8+ years of experience that demonstrates measurable career progression within engineering discipline that can be applied to support the District's strategic goals and objectives.  Disciplines for engineering education and experience requirements include Civil, Construction, Electrical, Environmental, and Mechanical Engineering.

Senior Engineer:  Bachelor's Degree from an ABET/EAC accredited program and 6+ years of experience that demonstrates measurable career progression within engineering discipline that can be applied to support the District's strategic goals and objectives.  Disciplines for engineering education and experience requirements include Civil, Construction, Electrical, Environmental, and Mechanical Engineering.

Staff Engineer:  Bachelor's Degree from an ABET/EAC accredited program and 4+ years of experience that demonstrates measurable career progression within engineering discipline that can be applied to support the District's strategic goals and objectives.  Disciplines for engineering education and experience requirements include Civil, Construction, Electrical, Environmental, and Mechanical Engineering.

Licenses:
State of Florida Professional Engineer (PE) license and keeps licensure status current. 
Valid State of Florida Driver's License required.

Physical Requirements/Working Environment:
Due to the District's response role and in the total scope of emergency management, this position may at times, be required to provide support before, during and after major storm events and emergency situations, such as hurricanes or other declared emergencies, depending on assigned emergency response role.

Composition of office and field work with regular exposure to a hot and humid environment in remote and heavy vegetative areas.
