Description

The Departments of Civil and Urban Engineering (CUE) and Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) at the NYU Tandon School of Engineering invite applications for a tenure track faculty position at the Assistant Professor level, to start on September 1, 2022.

We are looking to hire in the area of Intelligent Transportation Systems and Control with a focus on theory and/or applications of “Connected and Autonomous Vehicles (CAV)”. Some of the potential areas of interest include development of CAV based solutions addressing capability, adaptability, scalability, resiliency, safety, cyber security, and usability of Intelligent Transportation Systems and building automated and cooperative urban transportation systems that learn from real-world data while taking advantage of emerging communication technologies such as 5G. The successful candidate will be a member of C2SMART, a Tier 1 University Transportation Center (http://c2smart.engineering.nyu.edu/). The successful candidate will also be able to collaborate with other faculty in transportation and related fields at NYU Abu Dhabi and Shanghai, Rudin Center for Transportation Policy and Management, Center for Urban Science & Progress (CUSP), NYU Wireless, CATT, Center for Cyber Security, among others. The transportation program at Tandon is one of the oldest programs in the US with an extensive alumni network contributing to the advancement of the field throughout the world.

Qualifications

The successful candidate should have a Ph.D. degree in Civil Engineering, or Electrical and/or Computer Engineering, or a closely related discipline. We seek individuals who have the potential to develop a research program with a strong record of scholarship and external funding, teaching and curricular innovation, leadership, and entrepreneurship. Given the emphasis of our transportation system’s focus on connected and autonomous vehicles in urban networks and the on-going joint work of faculty from the CUE and ECE departments, we envision a joint hire.
