The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE) at Tennessee Tech University invites applications for a Lecturer in Construction Engineering and Management. This is a full-time, nine-month, non-tenure-track position to begin August 1, 2022, and renewable based on satisfactory annual reviews, the needs of the department, and future funding.

The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and teaching undergraduate courses in Construction Engineering and Management in addition to service to the department, university, and profession. Teaching of related courses in the curriculum may also be required depending upon the candidate’s area of expertise and the needs of the department. Successful candidates should also have a demonstrated commitment and contribution to fostering and advancing equity, diversity and inclusion.

Minimum qualifications include a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Science from accredited institutions in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, or closely related engineering field (a Master of Science in Construction Management is acceptable if combined with a Bachelor of Science in Civil or Construction Engineering); at least three years of full-time experience and decision-making responsibilities in the US construction industry; and excellent written and oral communication skills. Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States without the University’s sponsorship.

Preferred qualifications include a Ph.D. in Civil or Construction Engineering (or related engineering field); professional credentials or registrations such as Professional Engineer (PE), certified Construction Manager (CCM), and/or LEED; experience with Building Information Modeling (BIM); experience and excellence in teaching in higher education; and a minimum of five years of full-time experience in the US construction industry.

The CEE department is home to approximately 310 undergraduate and 30 graduate students with 13 full-time faculty. The Center for Construction and Building Information Modeling was recently established within the department. An undergraduate degree concentration in Construction Engineering and Management is anticipated to be offered beginning Fall 2022. Concentrations in Environmental Engineering and Geological Engineering have recently been introduced. More information about the department can be found at http://www.tntech.edu/cee.

All applicants will be required to apply online at https://jobs.tntech.edu and electronically upload a cover letter describing the candidate’s industry experience; curriculum vitae; teaching philosophy; statement on diversity, equity, and inclusion (uploaded in required “Other Documents” slot); contact information for three professional references; and a copy of transcripts (official transcripts for all degrees conferred required upon hire) at time of application. If selected for an interview, references will be contacted via email to provide a reference letter. Submission of materials is the applicant’s responsibility. Applications without all required materials are incomplete and will not be considered. Review of applications begins November 27, 2021; open until filled.
