Sarasota County has a Transportation Modeler position to serve as a subject matter expert and conduct and review various transportation analyses to determine the impacts of existing and future developments on the county’s roadway network. This position will also plan, organize, and direct work of consultants and employee groups, as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications: A Bachelor's Degree in a technical or highly related engineering field and two (2) or more years of related engineering project experience.  A Master's Degree may substitute for one year of required experience.  Technical, engineering-related project experience may substitute for education on a year-for-year basis, if candidates are not available that fully meet the minimum requirements of the position. Engineer in Training certification granted in the State of Florida. 

Preferred Qualifications:  Course work in civil engineering, transportation, computer, industrial, or similar. Licensure in the State of Florida as a Professional Engineer or the ability to obtain within 18 months from date of hire.

Job Competencies:  Ability to perform and analyze data using transportation modeling software such as: Highway Capacity Software (HCS), SYNCHRO, SIDRA, and FSUTMS. Specific knowledge of transportation manuals such as the: ITE Trip Generation Handbook and Highway Capacity Manual (HCM). Effective written and verbal communication techniques.

Pay: $55,000 - $66,000 and great benefits including the Florida Retirement System.
