The Construction and Design Department is charged with the Mission of advancing the Authority's
Capital and Operating Programs and to provide Architectural/Engineering expertise in order to
ensure the continued safety, quality, reliability, good state of repair and operation of the Authority's
bridges, tunnels, approach roadways, stations and appurtenant facilities. Therefore, the Senior
Project Manager providing project/program oversight should have a minimum of 15 years of
project management experience.
He/She will be required to have a bachelor’s degree in
civil/structural engineering, at a minimum. A P.E. is preferred.
Experience in infrastructure and
complex projects is preferred. The Senior Project Manager should have strong oratorical skills
and can multi-task.
A working knowledge of Microsoft programs such as; MS Excel, PowerPoint,
Word is desired.
The Senior Project Manager should understand risk-based project monitoring and
be familiar with critical path analysis.
Principal Responsibilities shall include:
Review of scope and planning documents for appropriate and cost-effective design
solutions and full examination of alternatives, with emphasis on complex and/or costly
projects;
Review of engineering estimates and construction phasing prior to award;
Evaluation of defined operating and maintenance requirements and associated costs;
Review testing and acceptance criteria as defined by contract specifications;
Review of other project documents as required;
Periodic site visits;
Attend project meetings and document, distribute and communicate issues discussed,
including resolution of open items, remedy work and cost issues in Capital Program
Monitoring Reports for the MTA’s Capital Program Oversight Committee;
Interviews with key agency personnel, consultant and contractor personnel as necessary;
Ongoing review of project budgets and schedules;
On-going preparation of cost and schedule trend analysis (forecasts);
Periodic publication of reports as required;
Comply with all safety policies, practices and procedures. Report all unsafe activities to
supervisor;
Provide support to team members, Project Director and other Senior Project Managers
and, as required;
Provide leadership to others though example and sharing of knowledge/skill;
Perform presentations to senior management personnel at the MTA
Report findings to the MTA’s Capital Program Oversight Committee.
Perform other duties as required.
