East Bay Municipal Utility District’s (EBMUD’s) Operations and Maintenance Support Department is seeking a motivated, experienced, and team-oriented Associate Civil Engineer to coordinate, analyze and manage projects related to pipeline trench soils management. The Associate Civil Engineer will develop and coordinate pilot studies and implement programs based on these studies, perform technical and economic analyses, manage maintenance and construction projects; and will effectively coordinate and communicate with stakeholders. Reporting to a Senior Engineer, Associate Engineer is the registered professional engineer level position on the EBMUD engineering career ladder.

The most competitive candidates will have excellent interpersonal, written communication, project management, and technical skills; experience in design and construction management of water infrastructure projects; and strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.

The salary range is $10,455 per month increasing to $10,978, $11,527, $12,103, and $12,708 after 6, 18, 30, and 42 months, respectively.

  1. A bachelor’s degree in an ABET-accredited civil, environmental or closely related engineering curriculum OR a California EIT certificate;
  2. Four years of professional civil, environmental or closely related engineering experience (subsequent to obtaining the degree), which is equivalent to two years of experience at EBMUD’s Assistant Engineer level; AND
  3. California registration as a Professional Civil Engineer.
