Civil Project Engineer (Solar, Wind, and Energy Storage)

Borrego is seeking a Project Engineer to work with a team of engineers, project developers, project managers and engineering consultants to review, design and permit prospective solar PV, wind, and energy storage projects. The successful candidate will be relied on to balance due diligence efforts with project risks for the continued development of projects for Borrego Solar. The candidate will functionally report into the Director of Civil Engineering.

Position Responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

• Doing site and zoning/bylaws review
• Meeting with the state agencies, towns and other stakeholders, as well as presenting to planning/zoning boards and state  agencies
• Working with staff engineers with varying levels of development experience
• Managing the survey, environmental and engineering sub-consultants. 
• Making technical presentations to the business investment committees
• Assisting in the continued development of standard details, notes, and specifications
• Reviewing design drawings prepared by in-house or external designers

Desired Skills and Experience: While no one individual will possess them all, the successful candidate will bring many of the following experiences, skills, and attributes:

• 5-10 years of  experience in site development and permitting or equivalent engineering experience
• Track record of developing energy projects at the local, state, and federal level
• Experience in cost estimation, reviewing of engineering services contracts and managing subconsultants
• Ability to creatively expand theories to find solutions within the confines of the bylaws and codes
• Ability to substantiate code interpretations and mathematically analyze design concepts
• Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) experience desired; however, not required
• AutoCAD Civil 3D and HYDROCAD (or equivalent design tools) proficiency is preferred
• Civil PE License desired but not required
