We have an immediate opening for a Civil Engineer/Project Manager in our Buffalo office.  Watts works closely with architects and owners on a variety of challenging engineering projects with a focus on efficient designs, meeting the needs of the project.  Project sites could exceed 10-acres and exceed $5M in site development construction value.  This advanced level position would perform all phases of site/civil engineering management and design duties.

Responsibilities:

  • Work within an internal team to support the civil design, from project onset through construction
  • Write technical fee proposals with scope and assumptions for a specific project
  • Manage the progress of the design work, to stay on budget and on schedule
  • Create contract documents for all aspects of land development design, including demolition, new site layout, grading, site utilities, and erosion and sedimentation control
  • Write Engineering Reports and studies, including Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP) Reports, and technical specifications
  • Model the site stormwater with HydroCAD modeling software
  • Create and edit computer aided design drawings in AutoCad Civil 3D modeling software
  • Review applicable building codes and design standards
  • Lead a multi-discipline team (architects, structural engineers, MEP engineers etc.) and coordinate design work
  • Achieve permit approval from applicable state agency
  • Mentor and teach junior engineers
  • Perform site visits throughout New York State
  • Interact with the client as the primary contact for Watts
  • Perform business development for future projects

Requirements:

  • 8-10 years of relevant design and management experience
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering (or similar) from an ABET-accredited university, preferred
  • Licensed Professional Engineer in New York State, required
  • Technical knowledge in the use of AutoCAD Civil 3D, HydroCAD, Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Excellent verbal and writing skills
  • Ability to work within a larger internal/external project team
  • Detail and task oriented, in order to meet deadlines set by others
