Salary Range: £42,000 - £50,000 + yearly bonus + pension + additional benefits

Emtech are working with an exciting medium size engineering consultancy who are looking for a Senior Structural Engineer to join their team in London. You will provide engineering design on a day to day basis and undertake site inspections where necessary. You will have the opportunity to be involved in a number of exciting projects of varying value including those of high profile, throughout the UK, and work closely with other disciplines. You will be involved in all aspects from early stages of pre-planning through to post construction, and also attend design team meetings and site visits.

As a Senior Structural Engineer you will have gained good all round experience commensurate with your professional career to date and be comfortable with multi-tasking. Key technical attributes would include:
  • Substantial UK construction industry experience - experience of residential development and historic building refurbishment would be an advantage.
  • Good commercial awareness, (i.e. some experience in delivering a project within the fees quoted) and client liaison experience, (i.e. managing client expectations).
  • In-depth abilities of undertaking superstructure, foundation and geotechnical design to latest Code of Practices and NHBC / BCO design criteria.
  • Abilities of specifying common material specifications via NBS create/ Buildings: reinforced concrete, structural steelwork, masonry and timber.
  • A hands-on approach to detail design and a good understanding of Eurocodes and current industry standards
  • Ability to undertake 3D Design, (familiarity with Tekla would be an advantage) and finite elements analysis modelling.
  • Ability to speak clearly, confidently, and professionally when dealing with staff, clients and other members of the professional team.
  • Membership of relevant professional body (IStructE or ICE). You may be working towards chartership status or already chartered.
  • Ability to mentor and support graduate engineers and junior technicians.
  • Ability to undertake independent site inspection and structural condition survey works.

This role would suit an individual who wants to progress in their career and enjoys development projects and design as well as the variety of refurbishment projects, forensic engineering and producing reports and providing advice regarding mitigation and repairs.
