Job Purpose and Scope:
  • Report to Head of Structures and work within the reporting structure of the Engineering Team, including the supporting management role provided by Head of Temporary Works.
  • To carry out the function of Civil & Structural Engineer in accordance with Company Procedures, including Mandatory Temporary Works Procedure
  • Provide technical advice, assistance and support across the Lendlease Europe offices and projects within our both our Development and Construction Businesses at bid, tender, preconstruction, construction delivery and legacy stages.
  • Carry out in-house Temporary Works analysis and design solutions, reviews, independent checking and audits of subcontractor designs, drawings, risk assessments and method statements.
  • Ensure that Temporary Works designs and construction methodologies are in accordance with our Company Procedures and best safety practice.
  • Monitor and ensure quality and compliance of design solutions, development of standard documents, allocation of design resource to projects, liaison with project teams and assist in the development of junior staff.
  • Actively promote and advise on design safety, buildability and sustainability.
  • Ensure that the service provided is produced on time, to cost and to Company standards. ? Ensure that the Client receives the most appropriate solution arising from the Brief, and to carry out project and management functions as required. ? Actively engage with Integrated Solutions Technical Group and Community of Practices.

  • Design reviews and value engineering of projects to ensure technical and regulatory compliance
  • Ensure all Temporary Works designs and installations consider best safety practice and are in accordance with company EH&S requirements and Mandatory Procedures.
  • Develop Temporary Works design guides and standards to maintain quality and efficiency
  • Provide technical assistance to other Lendlease offices ensuring consistent quality and standards
  • Assist Principal / Senior Engineers, Structures Design Manager leading the Engineering team discipline, and other staff assigned to a project as appropriate.
  • Develop and maintain a team spirit by inspiring and motivating junior staff
  • Participate in preparation of tenders to secure future projects
  • Assist with preparation of presentations to prospective clients to gain work.
  • Carry out concept designs, detailed designs, design reviews, independent category 3 checking and preparation of sketches, drawings and procurement specifications in relation to Temporary Works
  • Liaise with our project teams to ensure their / Client requirements and objectives are met.
  • Carry out site surveys, inspections during all stages of a project, including construction.
  • Carry out all Temporary Works, Health and Safety, and Engineering related duties as required
  • Ensure that all work carried out meets the requirements of the Company Procedures.
  • Participate in annual and interim performance reviews for personal learning and development and as required by the business plan
  • Identify personal training / CPD for self and junior members of the team
  • Assist in mentoring and development of junior staff.
  • Networking and CPD through recognized Institutions like ICE, IStructE and TWf, attending regular meetings.

ESSENTIAL & DESIRABLE CRITERIA: (Essential and Desirable)
  • Engineering related degree E Professional Qualifications with ICE or IStructE D
  • Experience in common IT software packages E
  • Competent IT skills and experience of computer design software and analysis packages E
  • Knowledge of Civil and Structural engineering design E
  • Experience in design of Temporary Works E
  • An understanding of the construction process and construction methods E
  • Flexibility, openness of approach and willingness to work as team player E
  • Experience of working within a team effectively and delivering to tight deadlines on time and on budget E
  • Knowledge of current regulations, standards and procedures, including CDM Regulations E
  • Experience of project planning and resource allocation D
  • Management of junior staff and development of their skills D
  • Experience of dealing with clients, contractors and construction activities E
  • Communication and presentation skills verbally, sketching, drawing E
  • Continuous Professional Development / Training records E
  • Autocad / Microstation capable D
  • Navisworks capable (BIM) D
