Principal Civil Engineer

Principal Civil Engineer - required for a Civil and Structural Engineering Consultancy in Devon. The company work on a range of projects for domestic projects to developments with an overall contract value of in excess of £40 million. The role will be including educational, residential and commercial, from scheme concept through to detailed design and construction monitoring.

The Civil Engineer will be capable of working with minimal supervision working within a small team providing technical design responsible for the production of technical design information including drawings, calculations, specifications and reports. The Principal Civil Engineer will be experienced in leading and managing small teams, delegating and supervising work of team members and acting as a mentor for junior members to develop their technical skills.

The Civil Engineer will have extensive experience with flood modelling, flood alleviation schemes design and preparation of Surface Water Management Plans. In addition, the Civil Engineer will have experience in adoptable infrastructure design and the negotiation of Section 104, 106, 38 and 278 Agreements.

Principal Civil Engineer Position Overview

• Working within a small team providing technical design
• Preparing highways and pavement design
• Producing foul and surface water drainage including SuDS design
• Managing and coordinating projects across the civil engineering team
• Responsible for the production of technical design information including drawings, calculations, specifications and reports
• Liaising effectively with clients, local authorities and other design team members
• Undertaking the project management and financial control of projects
• Assisting in the preparation of bids and proposals
• Developing business with new and existing clients
• Liaise with local authorities and other stakeholders to obtain necessary technical approvals and consents

Principal Civil Engineer Position Requirements

• Experience in highways and pavement design
• Competent in foul and surface water drainage including SuDS design
• Proficient in MicroDrainage/FLOW
• Knowledge of the CDM 2015 Regulations
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Good understanding of the CDM 2015 Regulations
• Incorporated Engineer or near-incorporated status
• Experience in working in new development projects
