One of the UK's most progressive residential developers is seeking a motivated Civil Engineer to work from their East Midlands regional office in Leicester. The business operates a hybrid working policy so there is flexibility if needed.

This company currently has several regional offices across the North West, Midlands, London, Home Counties and South East.

The person they appoint will have the opportunity to work on a diverse mix of projects, both affordable and open market homes, from small-medium sized residential developments circa 20-200 units per site.

The person they appoint as a Civil Engineer will report directly to the Development Director. Essentially, the role will involve managing external consultants with an input of your own engineering design to ensure best quality.

Key Responsibilities;

• Inspect and appraise land opportunities and provide initial feasibility appraisals to enable a decision to be made whether to proceed with an offer.

• Liaise with Land and Estimating teams in completing financial analysis of sites.

• Oversee the commissioning of topographical surveys and commission any other technical investigations and reports to facilitate the completion of technical investigations.

• Assist architects in reconciling title plans against survey and advising on site constraints.

• Provide technical advice and assistance on demolition, remediation, drainage, services, highways and foundations.

• Provide fees for structural and engineering designs for inclusion in feasibility budget.

• To liaise with consultant engineers on a regular basis ensuring programmes are achieved.

• Assist the Development Managers in the procurement, approval and issue of engineering packages in accordance with the Milestone Schedule.

• Maintain and manage the Regional Development Strategy, monitor and control earthworks at site level in accordance with remediation strategy and groundworks order.

• Retain and improve their consultant base.

• Monitor progress of tender issues and review against DCO packages and Development Strategy.

• Assist architects in the release and negotiation of engineering planning conditions.

• Oversee the checking and completion of Section 220, Section 38, Section 278, Section 185 and Section 104 agreements and the management of the Bond Schedule and Supervision fees.

• To assist the Development Managers in ensuring that Technical Approvals for both Road and Sewers are received prior to start on site.

• Oversee the checking and approval of way-leave and services agreements.

• To liaise with Engineers and Construction in respect of progressing road and sewers through to adoption.

To be considered for this position, you must have a general background and knowledge in property combined with a relevant qualification in Building / Civil engineering. You must be capable of working independently as well as within a team of people, thus being able to effectively negotiate, motivate and communicate in order to influence others to ensure that the required programmes are met. Other useful skills would include assertiveness, being decisive, flexible, good time management, organised, effective at leading / participating in meetings, working well under pressure and to strict deadlines.

In return, this house builder is offering a competitive salary circa £50,000 plus an excellent benefits package.
