The Opportunity:

An exciting opportunity for a dynamic, forward thinking Structural Engineer to join our team for delivering a challenging bridge refurbishment project and works in the centre of Glasgow.

Job Purpose / Summary:

The role will require you to coordinate the design of temporary works in cooperation with the Project Technical Manager and provide technical support to the Construction Manager. You will be involved with managing internal design processes and programmes, along with design activities undertaken by external engineers.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate design activities carried out by internal and external designers
  • Liaise with Client, Designers and Checkers
  • Provide design programmes and monitor them
  • Prepare and manage Design Brief approval
  • Review deliverables submitted by internal and external Designers and ensure they are compliant with the Design Briefs
  • Manage internal design processes, including assumptions reviews, design, checks, and issuing approved drawings to operation teams and Clients
  • Provide Technical Support to site managers in charge of installation method statement preparation
  • Provide Technical Support to site managers in charge of material procurement
  • Assist Company Estimators with technical aspects


Knowledge & Experience:
  • A Master Degree in structural engineering
  • Minimum 6-7 years experience in bridge design
  • Experience in designing steel and reinforced concrete structures
  • Experience of temporary works design
