The Opportunity:

Our City Centre Newcastle office currently have an opening for a Technical Director or ambitious Associate Director specialising in Civil Engineering to lead the small existing team of Engineers and drive organic growth through the development of new clients and commissions. The Civil Engineering team currently has a wide variety of infrastructure projects including, residential, commercial, industrial and renewable energy projects. Our projects currently include but are not limited to: earthworks design and 3D modelling; Highways and road design; Drainage Design; Flood Risk Assessments; Environmental Planning; Site Services Provision; Report writing and production; Project Management and Site supervision.

This is an excellent opportunity to develop an already established and experienced team of Engineers and Technicians and to make a mark on the Civil Engineering landscape in the North East.

We envisage the role to include:

· Day to day management of the Civil Engineering Team, including coordination of team workloads, technical management, budget management and mentoring;

· Taking the lead on business development planning for the team including developing business with our existing clients and identifying potential new clients;

· Client management;

· Developing opportunities with other teams within the Newcastle office and in other offices;

· Internal project management of multi-disciplinary projects;

· Providing updates to the Regional Director.


We are very keen to hear from candidates who have the following qualities and experience:

· Highway and/or drainage design experience using Civils3D/microdrainage/causeway to national standards such as DMRB and Manual for Streets;

· Technically proficient with excellent report writing skills;
  • Demonstrable track record in business development and building client relationships or a willingness to learn on the job;
  • Self-motivated with a proven ability to communicate appropriately and effectively;
  • Experience of leading a team, including development of junior colleagues;
  • Experienced internal project manager;
  • Minimum of 10 years relevant post-graduate experience;

· A degree in civil engineering or similar;

· Chartered Civil Engineer or working their way towards chartership;

· Awareness of health and safety legislation;
  • A full UK driving licence.

The position is a full-time position although part time applicants will be considered.
