Looking for an engineering placement? Then why not consider Drax.

We can provide a great opportunity to put the theory you're learning into practise and you will be able to make a tangible difference while you are here. A year with us will provide you a variety of exciting and challenging work as you decide where you take your career in civil engineering. And it'll allow you to spend some time at the forefront of the energy industry. Sound good so far?

About the Role

On your placement you'll be supporting the activities of the Civil/Structural Engineering Department working closely with the team's Lead Structural Engineer. You'll be getting stuck in on a diverse portfolio of projects across Drax power station. You'll be supporting a nationally significant critical asset and learning invaluable skills for your future career at the same time.

About you

If you're studying towards an MEng, BEng or BSc in Civil, Structural or Architectural Engineering with an infectious enthusiasm and motivation to work in civil engineering we'd love to hear from you. You'll have an understanding typical structural defects and their causes, strong technical skills with experience with AutoCAD and an understanding of Eurocodes and British Standards for the design of steelwork, reinforced concrete, masonry and timber.

About Drax

We are one of the largest energy generators in the UK, with our main site in North Yorkshire covering 13 square miles. That means there are a lot of complex and interesting structures to work on, not to mention some of the new ones in the pipeline.

We could easily tell you more about what a fantastic opportunity this is, but here's what our placement students have said about their experience:

"I would say one of the greatest things about working for Drax as a Civil Engineer is that I get to experience both office and site work. Some days I will spend time in the office designing structural details while other times I get a chance to go out with contractors and learn how structures and repairs are coming on site. The civil department is also one of best working environments I have experienced." - Mohamed Ali, Year in Industry Student
